Hi, Felicia

Hi Knot & Anchor Photography enthusiasts! I decided it would be fun to start a blog so I can talk to you more about my sessions instead of being limited to what I can say in those little "sneak peek" blurbs on Facebook. I'd also love to show you what happens behind the scenes and what happens in my life in general. I'm a classic over-sharer. I can't wait to overshare with you! I thought about the best way to start this blog and I figured since some of you only know me as a photographer, I'd do an introduction.

For those of you just meeting me, I'm Felicia. Basics: I'm 30. I was born in New Hampshire, lived in New York until I was 10 and lived in Maine from 10-18. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a Mainer. I grew up in this gorgeous little town near a ridge that looks like a beautiful painting every Fall. I have three sisters and one brother. We grew up playing ridiculous games like "Store" where we sold our stuff to each other and then fought two weeks later over who the true owner was and nearly killing each other playing a "King of the Hill" style game on a floating dock in the middle of a lake. We called it "Bombs Away". I became a Nanny fresh out of high school. It was my first true calling and created some really wonderful memories. I always say that children can sense the Nanny in me because it's always easy for me to connect with my littlest clients. I met my husband when he was 20 and I was 21. We got married so fast everyone said we wouldn't last the year and if by some fluke we did, we wouldn't see our three year anniversary. We'll be married for 9 years next month. (I'm so smug when I say this lol but as wonderful as it's been it's also been so hard. It can be hard learning how to be adults when you're already married!) We have two sweet boys together, they are nearly 8 and newly turned 6. They've recently discovered armpit farts and are forever trying to avoid bedtime. We have lived in Virginia, New Hampshire, Maine, and California. We call Virginia home, at the moment. My husband is Navy and we're all so proud of his service to our country. It's what inspired the name "Knot & Anchor". I love Bravo, HGTV and the Kardashians. I'm a Taylor Swift fan girl. I can rap every single word to "Cleaning Out My Closet" by Eminem. I love the feel of a baby's soft hair against my cheek. Fall is my favorite season. I'm so basic. Pumpkin and apple everything and uggs. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I was born 7 days before. My birthday tends to get overshadowed but my husband does a good job of making me feel loved and special.

See, this is what I mean. That was way more than basics! Welcome to my oversharing!

I got into photography years ago. I loved taking pictures with my Mema's Polaroid camera when I was a little girl. When I was in high school my parents gave me a Kodak print and share camera that I was obsessed with. The obsession only grew when I had my own children. It wasn't so much the obsession to take the perfect photo. It was, and still is, the obsession to capture a moment exactly as it is. To capture love and life as it is, in this moment. My grandparents took hundreds of photos of my siblings and I. I have a box at my Grammy's house that is full of those big albums with the stick pages and they all contain photos of me. My siblings have their own special albums too. So I think that love of capturing us as we are--in all of our gap-toothed, messy haired glory--is just in my DNA. I'm so happy I'm able to share this love with other people and give them not only beautiful photos of special moments and memories but a good experience throughout the session as well. I'm bubbly, I talk a lot, I laugh out loud. My goal is to make you feel at ease. And judging by the reviews I've gotten so far, I'm doing a good job!

So, hello and welcome. If you're already a client of mine thank you so much for being a part of my journey. If you're not, let's fix that! Let's meet up and chat and see if we're a good fit. Tell me what your vision is and I'll do my very best to make it happen. Think of me as your photography fairy godmother lol Stay tuned for more good stuff and thank you for stopping by!
